Become a volunteer

"Quite often, members I’ve helped to support, both past and present, have asked how they could give something back – By volunteering that’s how!"

If, as a member, you think you might be interested in volunteering, we will send you out an initial volunteer enquirer’s information pack about the ways you can help.  If you are still interested, then Diane Arnold our Volunteer Co-ordiator will be back in touch so that we can have an informal chat on the telephone, before you join as part of ‘The Team’.  You will receive lots of support from all of us along the way.

What are the volunteer roles within I N UK?

Helpliner
A Helpliner is someone who is willing to speak to other infertility sufferers, just to help them through a time of need or to be a sympathetic listening ear.  The quarterly magazine lists the helpliners according to their experience of infertility or treatment, and gives their first names and counties.  Helpliners can specify times when it is suitable for other members to call them

Linkliner
A Linkliner is someone who helps maintain IN UK’s 24 hour service.  These volunteers agree for their name and telephone number to go on the I N UK out of hours telephone answering service. Linkliners work on a rota system and generally only commit to one week at a time.

Main Contacts
Main contacts are much like Helpliners, but may run or help run local support groups in their area, too.

There are lots of other ways of helping which involve less commitment.  You can help by dropping off leaflets or putting up posters.
You can also help by hosting a one off fundraiser – do see the Support US section for other ideas.

If you are interested in volunteering in any way please call Diane on 08701 188 088
